You might like Akame ga Kill, it's airing now, about 11 episodes into 24. It's got grittiness, but it's still fun.

I wasn't... quite... but the bit about the Desk near the roof of the school and returning to find it gone hit me like a train >.>

I had a desk/corner reserved for all the while that I was at Sixth form. I'd be there 90% of the day when I wasn't in a lesson, back against a corner and able to watch all the traffic flow by >.>
Then... I came back after a half term break to find it gone... then a few days later it was replaced by King Arthur's fucking round table of uncomfortableness which meant that I was endlessly sat next to some assholes all day ;_;

'quite' is a strong word.

Unfortunately no, the whole anime community goes into a rage if its call an anime because its made here and not in Japan. I for one like it, though it still has a ways to go.
