It's sad how true it is that an American hero is being condemned as a criminal by the country he risked to protect.

I agree. A guy like Chris Kyle is a hero for killing over 100 people but Snowden is seen as a piece of shit for exposing the government for spying on us. Yes we shouldn't be surprised about the things Snowden leaked, but the fact that we did means we most likely are doing even more shady things.

And yeah, Snowden may have leaked documents that put lives in danger, but the point is that those documents shouldn't have existed in the first place. We should never have been doing any of the privacy infringing and ethical violations that Snowden proved beyond the shadow of a doubt we do every day. And yet, even after he destroys his life and brings the knowledge into the American eye, people like you still hate him. Says a lot.

It's not hypocrisy, because it's a different value. I hate wrongfully condemnned people because they did absolutely nothing to consent to having their entire life destroyed. The government simply plucked them up out of sheer unluckiness, ruined their name, and made them sit in a jail cell their entire life. Soldiers, elite units especially, know what they're getting into as soon as the sign the enlistment papers; they're making the concession that they may die for the good of their country. And this leak was 100% for the good of the people.

No, the documents should never have existed for the same reason no one should've had to remember a thing: because those operations never should've been approved.
