But in return, you forfeit your existence entirely. Disappearing without anyone ever knowing you.

You'll basically go back in time and do a kamikaze to kill the person. However since you died before you were born nobody can remember you now.

Damn. This is hard. I definitely would kill someone relating to WW1 and it's causes, but the issue is the many causes of that war.

Killing Ferdinand's assassin woildn't really do anything in the long term; Ferdinand's death was just the spark that lit a great deal of pre-existing gunpowder.

Honestly, as a massive fan of the German Empire, I'd kill Kaiser Wilhelm II. His foolish, emotionally charged decisions undid everything Bismarck worked for, and helped bring about the division of national powers seen in WWI. Without his poor choices, Germany might have had more cordial relations with Britain in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
