As long as I was getting enough money to pay for the site + a little extra, I don't think it would matter that much to me.

Donations are really nice and allow the site to be free of the visual annoyances and content restrictions of ads, while ads allow the site to live without the users being obligated to pay. So...maybe both. A site with an ad that can be disabled with a donation.

would you rather be able to learn a language of your choice, but cannot speak to people who speak that language (for example, if you choose nipponese, you can't speak to japanese people. you can still read/type/etc tho) or be able to know every language, but only basic words/only able to have basic conversations? why?
