yeah but this is automatic and it changes the actual colour of the screen. the white can be straining on your eyes

It's not necessary the light itself

It's the contrast with the rest of the room

If it's dark and the screen is bright then yes it hurts but it's easily fixable by adjusting the light in the room

that's the point, at night a sharp bright white display is a strain on your eyes. if like me you don't sit in a bright room this isn't very good your vision. by making the display 'orangey' it's much more comfortable great if you have trouble sleeping, i haven't felt this sleepy in a long fucking time

The current titlebar/avatar setup is just normal.
Never. I have a lamp that dimmly illuminates my room which offsets it. Great for reading books in too, without burning my eyes out with an overhead office light.
