Oh, hey.
As I brought up a week ago, or longer, I was considering writing a new book to be a prequel to my series. I hatched out who the character was going to be, and I know how the story line archs over and ends/meets.

Outside of that I have no restraints in my universe because it gives me the freedom to create a story to someone insignificant in the main books. It also allows me the ability to take a new direction, something unique, to set it apart both narratively and emotionally from the set.

Typically I enjoy writing novels that are somewhat dark, because they are the most realsitic and engrossing. Ones that have a realistic balance with believable settings, events and characters. But I was wondering if I should take this one in a more upbeat approach, while keeping my realism.

So what do you think would be the most entertaining?

Being serious though. I'd have to know a little bit more about stuff to make a judgement.

The universe I created is simply this.

The US has gone through another civil war. And a tyrannical government took over. At first the country prospered and exploded. But as time progressed, border were shut down and the US isolated itself from the world.

The original civil war ended with a brutal defeat of those trying to keep the US as it was. The war was never spoken of, never taught about in classes. Completely erased from history.

All the books deal with what happened in the original war, and the aftermath. This new one would deal with the lead up to the original war, and the beginning of it

Not mein style. But have you ever considered a blend of happy sad? That's a good challenge to try.

Long live NoNolesNeckin.

Ya fuckin' ganderneck.
Entertainment is in the eye of the beholder.

Personally though, I like stories that can be rather dark and ominous, creepy etc. etc. but in the end show you that no darkness endures eternity and that everything changes eventually.

Write it but try to make a snowpiercer type ending.

Where the end mainly results in total destruction of the system. So Chaos but new hope.

A few have suggested I turn singularity into a novel.
