Because I don't have a reason to be that muscular.

I don't need to carry heavy shit in my daily life, I shouldn't need to rely on my muscles to get girls (apart from one muscle >.>), and my country has free healthcare meaning I don't have to worry about my health, past my weight.

I'm happy cycling or swimming, that's more genuinely healthy and useful stuff to train compared to lifting a heavy object and putting it down again.
False. Unless you swim and cycle multiple times a week, you can't even begin to compare the two. First off one is cardiovascular and the other is strength training. Second, strength training can also improve the cardiovascular system minutely while improving bone density, tendon strength, posture, the immune system, and hormonal regulation.

I know that, but I still see little point in the benefits of strength training unless you have a job that requires you to lift things everyday, when I can focus solely on cardio and be "generally healthy" rather than "specifically healthy".
Benefits:
Increases HDL - High Density Lipoprotein (good cholesterol) and decrease LDL - Low Density Lipoprotein (bad cholesterol).
Reduces risk of diabetes and insulin needs.
Lowers risk of cardiovascular disease.
Lower high blood pressure.
Lowers risk of breast cancer - reduces high estrogen levels linked to the disease.
Decreases or minimizes risk of osteoporosis by building bone mass.
Reduces symptoms of PMS (Premenstrual Syndrome)
Reduces stress and anxiety.
Decreases colds and illness.

The current titlebar/avatar setup is just normal.

Fair enough, I didn't know that. I'm sticking to swimming though.

Rockets on my X
But hey, I know I'm set where it counts. I don't look all purdy and spiffy. But that many hours a day on my feet, doing manual labor keeps me in shape. It's also what got me back onto my feet this year.

I started the year off in poor health. Underweight, poor strength, shit lungs and heart. All the running around this year has me back in as much peak health as I can manage.

That's also why I don't lift weights, to be frank. I can lift 40 pounds over my own body weight now. I weigh 220. No denying that I can't do my part anymore.

Dude, that's regular exercise - not liftin'.

and I can totally backup the benefits. I haven't had a cold for like two years now. If I do get sick (viruses and shit) I recover in 30 hours.

Then you're happy looking bad, and that's not a good thing.

Why the fuck would we feel insecure about anything if it didn't do us humans any good? Feeling bad about something makes change, and if you don't have the ability to see your faults and the will to better yourself, then stay down.

Here's a question;

Why should I spend time out of my day to do something boring when none of the reasons you list bother me? I don't care for dating and shit and I can be healthy by not eating crap. So what reason do I have? Persuade me why I should give up time that I could be using to be productive.

Where's the good in working out? To quote SecondClass, "Ooh, you can lift stuff better." I don't give a shit about that.

No, don't bother lifting if you've actually got shit to do.

I only do it because it wastes time. If you have stuff that's actually worthwhile, then don't bother.

Lifting weights is primarily used to increase muscle mass and strength, both of which have nothing to do with your health. Cardio and diet are far more important.

Also, I don't give a shit about my health, either.

It's purely a social thing. If you don't care about what other random people think of you, then it doesn't matter. Unless it's morbidly over/underweight and is damaging to your health.

But the argument of looking nice only applies if you're trying to impress random people for some stupid reason.

So you're good looking, good for you, but can you get better looking? If you aren't out to better yourself in certain fields, then you've A) found other fields you want to focus your time and effort on, or
B) Haven't established a purpose in life

wait lol you seriously think maintaining physical endurance and muscle training isnt part of being healthy?

Quote

ill take "obvious facts" for $500, alex. muscle training may take a lower priority than proper nutrition, but that doesnt mean it isnt deeply involved with your health. besides, many resistance/endurance training methods also improve your cardiovascular health.

I do. Not bodybuilding (which is legitimately retarded), but actual strength training. Been sticking with PPL for a pretty long time.

Tbh cardio is way more important for a healthy lifestyle, though.

If you lift to look good, without lifting, you don't look good. You are not okay with your base level of attractiveness. Which makes you insecure.

I make them look as ugly as possible for my own amusement. Having the guy who saved the world with a nose down next to his mouth and his eyes next to his ears with red skin and a beehive haircut while being morbidly obese but able to do flips and high-end unarmed combat brings me no end of amusement.

I spent a lot of time in the saints row characrer editors.
