I come here and see people hating on popular movies, TV shows, and music all the time. They're popular for a reason and usually that reason is because they are pretty damn good. Cmon guys, open your minds.

Because I like whatever the fuck I want and dislike whatever the fuck I want. It's popularity has nothing to do with it, but if it seems like I only hate popular things it's because most popular things are shit. Their popularity has nothing to do with it.

That being said I do enjoy a lot of popular things.

Hating things that are popular efficiently allows you to feel superior to as many people as possible. Hating on niche shit no one cares about would just be wasted effort.

Funny though. Somebody called me a hipster once, for wanting to build my own house, on land that I own, out in a wilder spot away from people.

Some people do stray away from mainstream stuff for the sake of being contrary. Others do it because they want to. It all comes down to personal preference. And, likewise, just because it's mainstream, doesn't mean its good.
