why are they a thing

they're always worse than normal wikis

they're ugly, they contain less information than their wiki counterparts (if they have one), and they run SLOW AS FUCK--
and they're rather disorganized and more poorly written, too

- lots of content
- dedicated communities filled with good writers
- a smart layout that's easy on the eyes
- minimal obtrusive ads

wikias are wikis' retarded sibling
- much less content
- false/outdated/STOLEN content
- terrible layout
- massive sidebar ads that have nothing to do with the wiki
- prone to heavy slowdown and even crashing

That would explain it. Pretty much anyone can start a wikia if that's the case, if someone goes throughout the effort of hosting their own site then they're probably more dedicated to the cause.

Hmm. Come to think of it I never actually consciously noticed that. I did it out of reflex.

If it was wikia I backed the fuck out and looked for something that said wiki. Thanks for bringing that to light now Verb. Now I don't have to wonder if I'm biased for no reason for never opening anything that has wikia on the end of it.

Halopedia isn't the prettiest but it was always better than the Halo wikia tbh. Now that I think of it, wow, you're right, wikias suck. It particularly bothers me when the Elder Scrolls wikia is the top result over the all-around superior UESP.

I just hate when they're more than one and I'm supposed to choose or something.
