Besides pets and livestock why do animals' lives matter to us at all? I say we industrialize every part of the world we can.

OT: I'm against killing animals and I always will be. It's wrong and it should be our duty to take care of them and our planet as they are unable to do so. However, after taking philosophy and learning of the limits of animals vs humans, I find it nearly impossible to bond with an animal that only lives off of instinct. I just don't see them the same anymore. I do have my preferences (foxes) but it will always just be a cute thing to cuddle and take care of. Nothing more. I feel the same way about the rest of the animal kingdom. Just take care of them because we should. That's it.
