As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door.
“’Tis some trick or treater,” I muttered, “tapping at my chamber door—
Only this and nothing more.”
Ah, distinctly I remember it was in the end of October;
And each separate dying Ember wrought its ghost upon the floor.
Eagerly I wished the morrow;—vainly I had sought to borrow
From my books surcease of sorrow—sorrow for the lost Baitor—
For the rare and radiant maiden whom the angels name Baitor—
Nameless here for evermore.
And the silken, sad, uncertain rustling of each person's jimmie
Thrilled me—filled me with fantastic terrors never felt before;
So that now, to still the beating of my heart, I stood repeating
“’Tis some trick or treater entreating entrance at my chamber door—
Some late trick or treater entreating entrance at my chamber door;—
This it is and nothing more.”
Presently my soul grew stronger; hesitating then no longer,
“Fig,” said I, “or Cunt, truly your forgiveness I implore;
But the fact is I was napping, and so gently you came rapping,
And so faintly you came tapping, tapping at my chamber door,
That I scarce was sure I heard you”—here I opened wide the door;—
A mirror there and nothing more.
Deep into that mirror peering, long I stood there wondering, fearing,
Doubting, dreaming dreams no Floodian ever dared to dream before;
But the silence was unbroken, and the stillness gave no token,
And the only word there spoken was the whispered word, “Khorne?”
This I whispered, and an echo murmured back the word, “Khorne!”—
Merely this and nothing more.
Standing there long and staring, either admiring or not caring
Deep into a face I've seen a million times before.
Within this mirror a reflection, that of one's complexion,
And to which this face in the mirror could use a fresh shave for sure
To which later in the night this face shall be washed and shaved for sure
A mask will do with something more.
Back from the door I searched for a cloak, mask, and hat to perch
So to look presentable as I answer my chamber door.
In the mirror again I stand with mask and hat in hand
Wondering in which order they I shall adorn
Wondering if mask, hat, or hood is best to adorn
I am left with this and nothing more
Shitty phone pics, quality you should ignore
I would kindly ask, do you dress to answer the door?
