Never felt the need to use any type of drug and I don't like the idea of my state of mind being altered or not being in control. Alcohol specifically I've seen the effects of and I'm not a fan.

This extends to coffee too. I hate the idea of being dependent on caffeine to function so I refuse to use coffee to compensate for me staying up late. If I stay up late and feel tired I want to feel the effects so it dissuades me from doing that more.

and for why not, i guess i don't find the appeal of having to use drugs to feel good for a few minutes/hours/etc, i'm perfectly capable of doing that myself and i'm happy for it

The only illegal drug Ive used is cannabis. I started using it as a last resort to try to tackle an existential/identity/depression crisis that I was going through at the time. I have only been able to use it sparringly as my anxiety and psychological issues are so severe that I am forced to confront them every time I pick up the pipe. But that's the reason why I use it, because it forces me to face the uncomfortable so that I am able to change, and it has worked when I was using it. Haven't used it in a while though.

My general view on weed is that when used sparringly with the right intent and in the right setting can be helpful to some. When used too often it can cause all kinds of issues like paranoia, anxiety and will slowly make you incapable of handling life.

a more honest and appropriate response would've been "i was weak and confused"

because that's what you were, and apparently, that's what you still are
