I really can't get into her music (too spunky and upbeat for my taste, typically), but she's definitely one of the most talented artists in mainstream indie (if you can even use that phrase) right now.

The majority of her songs are upbeat, yeah. But she has quite a few more somber, sad ones (like the one I posted in the OP) and those are mainly my favorites.

The lyrics are what's somber in that song, not the melody. And seriously, they are some good lyrics. That's how it usually is with her songs - a fast, chippy beat masking brilliant and dark lyrics.

I love Regina Spektor. Her songs are all so happy and the fact she writes her own songs unlike half the people nowadays. Shes not someone I listen to on a regular basis though.
