This is a typewriter. It's been around for a really, really long time. My grandma used to own a typewriter to type up my mom's school reports. Also, notice the layout. It was the basis for this:

Because they didn't grow up with them and learn like that, and most old people don't care for them.

I don't think it's the keyboard that's the problem, it's the screen.
With so many gadgets and bits and pieces and then the mouse controlling it with the keyboard...
For people used to things that look and at least act a bit more straightforward, it would look like an alien device.

Sure, if they took a breath and properly looked, it would be doable, but most people getting on in their years don't care about something they won't use a whole lot anyway.
