You know what fascinates me? People on the internet. Or more specifically, what they do, and why they take such stances. And maybe, why my stances seem to be different from my own eyes.

A fine example and point of reference I'll use are the threads stuffed into this one. http://sep7agon.net/index.php?topic=34638.0

So for starters. People's belief, in "not taking the internet seriously." Why? Because they've been bullshitted, of course. They've run into people who've pulled their strings, or seen people have their strings pulled by jokers. Buttons pushed by assholes with the intent of getting a rise. Desensitized and disbelief.

It relates to what I was talking to longface about in that very thread. About the responsibility a writer holds. They hold a greater potential to sway and create things. Whether positive or negative. But the truth is this. The title of "writer" is a falsehood. Everybody writes. The internet has opened up people, to writing.

The only real difference that the title of "writer" means, is one's ability and apptitude to write and convey. As such, the internet has a folly that nobody sees.

People write. And they do so irresponsibly. They abuse their ability to write and create. Why? Human nature. Just like you'd bump into people out in every day life, whose sole purpose can be to ruin somebody's day.

As such, I ask again?

Why?

What does one get out of being an asshole? And I mean, not jokingly, in person or the internet. I mean getting a raise out of someone. Putting them down.

What does one get?

A boost of self esteem. A reassurance to their ego and their insecurities.

That raise, is artificial. Putting somebody down, makes them temporarily feel superior. Above other people.

What else, do we know, creates an artificial sense of self worth and superiority? Money.

But hold on. Not, explicitly money. Money creates short lived bursts of happiness. Because let's face it. Having what you want is fun. As such, that happiness, that people often claim is false or hollow, is very real.

However. The sense of being elite. Being wealthy. Having things that others do not. It creates the very same sense and boost that an asshole gets when they purposefully put somebody down. And yet it's artificial. Temporary, and fake.

Go up to a rich person, one who considers themselves elite, above others because of their possessions, and shoot them in the head. They die. Do the same, to a guy on the street, he dies.

So what is that boost? That little rise of esteem?

Conformity.

People, are wonderful at constructing barriers, literally, and metaphorically.

Picture a house. It's yours. The inside of the house protects you. You can make it your own special environment. It could be nice and inviting, and you could say, that you house was tropical inside, while it was raining and cold outside.

You could even say, that you house was your world. You could live inside for the rest of your life and never leave.

But that would be denying reality. What's outside your house is still outside your house. Cold and rain. You've simply just picked your perception of things and pulled a bit of a blind over your eyes.

You've made your conformity. Your artificial rise from reality.

And anything breaching that, is a threat. As such, people being different, from one another, is often looked down upon. Because people love to lie to themselves about reality. Society. It's a false construct. Trends and likes and dislikes and fashion. Money and wealth and possession.

Fake security. Fake reassurance.

So, I circle back to my starting point. Why do I look at things differently? Why do I take things, more seriously and heavy hearted than others? Because I'm a writer. I know what writing can do. And if you don't believe me, look at how much power writing holds.

The bible. The koran. The second amendment.

People have fought, and died for those words. They've followed those words to sheer stupidity and beyond.

I take things a little more seriously because, I understand what writing can do to people.

And all of you, who claim, "don't take it seriously."

You've essentially gone up to the internet, and ignored what you are capable of doing. The very worst parts of people emerged because of the lack of barriers. The lack of repurcussions.

One, singular asshole abused what he could do. And it started a chain reaction.

And now it's either assholes, disbelievers, and touchy feely faggots like myself.

In which case I have to laugh. When I bring up, anecdotal experiences from my life to make a point in something, most people disregard it. They don't believe it. They don't believe what I'm saying because they've conformed to the internet, and its habits.

The very wonderful cultivation of asshats, and people lying and trying to get a raise out of one another.

A big, enormous, viscous circle, of artificial worth, and artificial conformity. When the reality is, nobody is above one another.

And, at the end of the day, every last one of us dies.

So?

What do you do with that?

Pick what you like. Pick what suits you. Take the best out of society and what part of it agrees to you. And cut all the bullshit out as best you can. But, show a little decency. A little bit of responsibility to your actions and what you might create.

TL:DR?

Go fuck yourself. One night of clarity and I've had to hurry and write this down before I forget it. And felt like sharing it. Learn some culture and read sometime.

It might do you some good. Goodnight you fegs.

There really needs to be a Sandtrap translator where I can copy paste your walls and drop them into a box and it spits out a 3 sentence summary. Cuts out the filler and feeds the results. I'd download that app.

Believe me if I could shorten this down I'd do so.

The thing with making statements. I've been taught to show how I arrive at a conclusion. Ingrained, very much so. There was no, actual main point to be made here.

Only a a long series of points that suddenly added up. That's as best of a true TL:DR I can give you.

Multiple pieces of a puzzle all showing up together in the right order.

I've a curiosity with the internet. Been puzzling, for some time over how and why people act the way they do, and in general, thinking about people, and I put myself into the equation.

A rather interesting set of events happened today that got me thinking.

And it all added up.

It's like math, really. Except with words and ideas. Anyway. Been a long time since I've had a clear head like this.

Taking time, to enjoy it while it lasts.

People have their reasons and I have my own, and they're likely bound to change as all things do.
