And the dalai lama has meetings with physicists to better understand science and the nature of reality.

It's not unheard of at all for those who are religious/spiritual to be 'forward thinking' in many regards.

True, but so few do so. I have respect for those who do. I may disagree with their message, but I respect the ability to look to the future when so many refuse to leave the past.
