Let us discuss the importance of Microsoft Office in our life.

Why i bring it up, well i saw my brother working on Windows 8 on the new office, and boom, looking at the word document i was blown away at how awesome and useful it became. There were new tool and toolbars to use.

And then, after doing an interview with a Construction Project Manager, i was amazed out how important Microsoft Project and Microsoft Excel is to the whole industry. Not only to Construction but nearly all lines of work. Anyway discuss the evolution and problems you had to face when using office.

The angel agreed to trade a set of white wings for the head of another demon. Overjoyed, the demon killed one of his own and plucked the head right off its still-warm body.

The angel then led the demon to heaven, where he underwent centuries of the cruelest tortures imaginable. Finally, the pain was so great that he lost consciousness - at which point his dark wings turned the promised shade of white.
I only ever used it in school.

Actually it feels silly that people in Computer Science have little to no idea about how to use the Office suite of software. Excel, and also Access are nice play and work grounds even in the professional world. I think most people are naive when it comes to actually using a computer, and software.

It's not a bad price for that kind of software.

Yeah, but it cost me freaking $150.

This from what i have heard. The ability to use VLOOKUP will make you a wizard and god among your peers. Somehow anyone who knows how to use EXCEL proficiently will have an easy time in any workplace especially business.

No, but that was pretty much all of my paycheck, and I ended up barely using it.

STEM-related work also relies on the possibilities that Excel can give to collect and analyze data especially for its price and its availability on both Windows, and OS X. Microsoft Word can handle work with huge and very complex documents such as research documents nicely too. It all comes down to how proficient the user is.

This from what i have heard. The ability to use VLOOKUP will make you a wizard and god among your peers. Somehow anyone who knows how to use EXCEL proficiently will have an easy time in any workplace especially business.

That's more or less your fault for not using the software you paid in applications outside for the purpose you needed at the time.

No, but that was pretty much all of my paycheck, and I ended up barely using it.

The only reason I bought it to begin with was because of my speech class at community college.
Ii's nice to have, don't get me wrong, but I generally only use Word or sometime PowerPoint.

Because the professor wanted a PowerPoint.
Just PowerPoint.

I use microsoft paint to do shitty image editing on my foxes.

I've been forced to learn Office, and I have the Stable workbook which teaches you basically everything, but I hate all that fiddly excel shit. Mostly because I've pushed my mind in different directions during my life. For me it's like having to learn brick laying when I don't want to be a brick layer. Can't someone else do it :'(

We also really need a new crying face, which is why I never use it. Does nobody else think this? Is it possible?

That's also another sad story. Most people don't really even know how to use all of Google Drive's and Google Doc's features. Or that they exist in the first place. In my college there's an additional free-of-charge course that basically introduces such software to students. I am not sure whether it's sad that people don't know the full capacities of the multi-hundred hardware they own, or that they are not interested in at least properly learning how to use it in the first place.

In that case, why not just use Google Drive?

If Microsoft didn't make it, it would've been made by someone else. I don't see much reason to be too aghast by it all.

There are Office suites from other companies and are successful for their own reasons. There are also open source office suites that offer almost all features, or other features compared to Microsoft Office.

If Microsoft didn't make it, it would've been made by someone else. I don't see much reason to be too aghast by it all.

Well then..
But to clarify, I'm saying I don't like having it or anything.  Getting it was just an inconvenience at the time.

It's the same model that Adobe adopted. However, Adobe's products are quite more costly than Microsoft Office.

I don't like the subscription thing they're doing now.

For MS Office? The subscription is for Office 365, not the regular Office suite. Office 2013 is just the normal cost.
