We kind of already do, in a way. The Avengers was basically an animated film. None of it was actually filmed on-location, for starters.

A lot of movies now are just green screens, but they use live actors.

That's been kinda common for a while now. I don't think anything's ever tried to use it as a selling point besides 300 though.
