What Was The First Forum You Participated In?

What did you do there?
How was it different socially?

I was obsessed with the release of Skyrim before launch, so not only did I join a forum, I wrote fanfic for the site.
Reading those back over now is unsettling, but those early memories are some of my best forum experiences.
Since I was one of the first few to join I was considered one of the old guard after a while and given an honorary title for looking into Dwemer history.
 That... is just inconsequential to like everything now and was pretty much a waste of time

The Skyrim Guild was primarily focused on game related topics, and moderation was stricter. Everyone was fairly polite.

Runescape's forums. I tried AOL chatrooms as a little kid, but tested to see if there was a profanity filter by saying 'fuck' and I got banned and my parents got an email with the chat log. Good times.

First one was the CoD W@W forums. When the game began being invaded by hackers and the playercount was dropping, I tried organising game days in the hopes we could fill a lobby with only normal players.

I quietly backed out after the forums updated with Black Ops and the W@W ones got shutdown or hidden, started browsing The Flood and then others.

I joined a Super Smash Bros. fan forum that was developing its own Smash-based flash game in 2008.

I didn't use the forum as much as I used its Xat chat room, which was located under the forum posts. The people there were okay, I guess, even though most of them (including myself) were just a bunch of middle schoolers. There was a lot of "XD"ing involved. My grammar has never been worse during those times.

Some of the mods, however, I ended up befriending--and I still chat with them to this day.

It was different in the sense that everything was new. There was no such thing as an "internet meme" in those days.
Jokes were original, and users had... personalities.

Bnet forums were the first that I frequented. I was a Reachtard so once the game came out I made an account and posted around in the Reach forum until I decided to check out the Flood.

After that my life just started going downhill
