What should I do musically right now?

I'm trying to be an Independent Christian Artist.
For the past year, I have been assembling a band and attempting to get shows.
I am back to 3 people again, and recently lost my drummer and piano players.
I feel like in a year's time I would have actually done something, instead I am dead in the water....it seems.

Also, I have 12 churches lined up who simply need to call me back to get a show.
However many haven't called back within 2 weeks time.

I have an Artist Development Label who is interested in me, thanks to my Acoustic EP I made entirely myself. However they want to hear something more professional, something I could do if I worked at it.

So my question is:
do you think I should focus on making a new single that is of professional quality and release that.
OR should I keep practicing with my band; and hope that I finally get a show, and maybe more shows will roll in after the first one?

I have been debating this decision for about a month. I just don't know what to do next.

I just feel like I've wasted a year. 6 days ago my Acoustic EP released year ago, and what do I have to show for it? No shows performed, around 250 CDs sold myself while doing college, and that's basically it.

That's just how life is, unfortunately. You're forced to work with people. Either you live it cooperating with them, or they kick you to the curb and leave you in the dust.

Yup. I'm thinking I may attempt to do both these choices.......but it'll take a lot of work.

To write a song that you believe in, you can't just put words on a page.
It's gotta mean something. I can play every song I've written with conviction, knowing I put my heart and soul into it. Songs like that can change people. Affect their lives.

I can write about loving some girl all day, but after all that is over.........money and success won't satisfy me. If I do that, it becomes just another "job".

Well, it sounds to me like you're having issues finding reliable people to work with and that your last solo project did really well. Play your strengths, I'd say. Take it seriously and do a full solo album. You can keep looking for a band project at the same time.

That is looking like the best option. I've gone through 7-8 people over a year, and still don't have a band. Freaking ridiculous. This town is FULL of churches and musicians.
