This is the way the world ends. Not with a bang but a whimper.
Feel free to comment on other users too.

I don't really have any intention of having kids, but I'd imagine I'd sort of be a hard-up, "you get what you earn" father. Not necessarily strict or authoritarian, but sort-of detached and not mollycoddling.

healthy challenge. Not a naturally sensitive type, DigitalIZesty struggle to identify with the raw emotions and irrationality that are often the standard with young children, who have yet to develop the sort of self-control and logical thinking that DigitalIZestys take for granted.

DigitalIZestys are nevertheless incredibly devoted - perhaps not in the traditional, emotionally supportive sense, but they are parents who are committed to encouraging their growing children to think and act independently, seek out new knowledge, and voice and defend their own opinions.

For DigitalIZestys knowledge is key, and they will do their best to give their children the tolerance and freedom necessary to acquire it. DigitalIZesty parents take a relaxed, intellectual approach towards their children, allowing them to explore the world around them and overlooking the more minor offences along the way.

Having no interest in exerting control over other human beings, DigitalIZestys are likely to allow their children to form their own principles - though they may take the opportunity of the "why?" phase to share their own perspectives and ideas, just in case.
DigitalIZestys are not particularly demanding parents, at least not in the sense that they expect their children to live a traditional life of school/career/marriage/house/kids/retirement (and in that order, thank you very much). Rather, DigitalIZesty parents are demanding in an intellectual sense - they want their children to ask if this path is the best path for them, and how to go about following a different one if they need to. This level of personal freedom can be daunting, and can take a long time to come to terms with, but DigitalIZesty parents are prepared to stand by their children with support and advice for as long as they need.

While there is hardly a better parent for having rational, intelligent discussions with their children, there is hardly a clumsier example when it comes to providing the emotional support that many children need, especially as they approach their teenage years. In this area, DigitalIZestys will need to either rely on a more capable partner, or to take themselves far out of their comfort zone in order to empathize without trying to clear away the tears with an endless series of rational suggestions and blunt truths.

NOT JUST LIFE, BUT GOOD LIFE

DigitalIZesty want nothing more than for his children to grow up smart, independent, and tolerant, but if they want them to be well-adjusted too, they must make this effort. DigitalIZestys' parenting style affords a great deal of latitude for their children, but with this freedom comes responsibility, and it is DigitalIZestys' responsibility to ensure that it is used constructively. Though it's a challenge for DigitalIZesty to teach empathy alongside rationality, if they are able to pull it off, their children will grow into confident adults who know how to ask questions, use their minds, and take care of themselves no matter what comes their way.

Haven't put much thought into it, but I suppose I'd try to be the ideal father - loving/interested normally, but not afraid to put punishments in place when something has been done wrong.

Rockets on my X
For starters, being a parent would generally mean that I got with somebody. And in all likelyhood it'd be somebody worth staying with. So that right there would essentially boost me. Around people I care about I do my absolute best. To the extent that one could say it has a tendency to be somewhat harmful on me.

But a kid. All my focus, all my attention, would be on them. I already know about the do's and don't's of parenting. I've lived a shit enough childhood to understand that. I know all the pitfalls of being different in society, and thinking differently than others around myself.

Being honest and not self hating here. I think I might be decent. In fact I'd wager I'd probably be a stellar dad compared to most younger people these days.

But it would take a toll on me. I would probably give up everything in regards to myself just to make things work for them. Maybe even, push myself too hard, like I always seem to do.

But do I neccessarily want kids right now? No. Far from it.

Would you let your kids smoke weed?
Depends how old they are. If my kid is 13 or 14 and I find him smoking, I'd be pretty angry. If he was 16 or 17, I wouldn't give a shit.

Yeah, maybe. I'd have to gauge whether or not they'd be cool about it, and obviously set up some strict ground rules about it first, though.

I'd teach my kid to do stuff, I had to teach myself most of the stuff that gets passed down to other kids. Would be cool to pass down my own knowledge.

Almost always, with moderation
Strict at first, and becoming more lenient as they grow up. I'll just change how I approach them, as they grow, to accommodate them, while still being a good parent.
