It isn't. I just recently started going back on B.net when bored and I'm surprised at the state the community is in. What used to be the extreme and very fringe opinions are now commonplace. And I'm not even talking about politics, but even things like evolution, climate change and the benefits of vaccinations are regularly challenged as being false by large amounts of people.

However, no matter what they do it will only be described as: Too little too late. Good riddance to that shit hole and the company that turned it into what we see now. The excuse of "Influx of new users" can suck a hot dick, the way the forums operated before 2013 was perfectly fine, then they had to go and fuck it all up. Politics and Religion are the two topics you don't bring to a social gathering which is nothing more than what a forum is. At least here on Sep7 the right idea was used to have it fucking contained (albeit even if it's not really enforced). But there's no excuse on Bungie's part. The community you see now Flee is a direct result of Bungie's shitty decisions when continually updating the site from 2013 on wards.

We can only hope that Destiny starts to falter and humbles Bungie back into what drew us to them in the first place, but I feel the damage is already done.

Eh, I gotta disagree. What used to be the extremist opinions from one, maybe two, people a thread who were rightfully dismissed and often just blatantly trolling is now dozens of people holding these views. And because you can't post on B.net without having your profile linked to a gamertag / PSN that actually played Destiny, we're not dealing with a few trolls upvoting themselves using an alt account. There are large and growing numbers of people who don't just fall on the absurds of politics, but genuinely believe that vaccinations cause autism or that evolution is a lie because "we haven't found the missing link". I think it's very disturbing, as many of them are probably still youths.

My guess is that when new people came there, they saw the kind of topics that get attention and began to emulate it. Anything edgy was seen as 'cool'. Eventually it became so edgy and post-ironic that it turned into a big Loaf-thread board. That's all it is, a big Loaf forum.

Basically, he argues that conservatives are breeding more than liberals, citing this as a source. I think this makes sense on an intuitive level. "I hate kids," "I don't want to have kids," and "I never want to be a parent" are all very common sentiments among young leftists. Conservatives, being a lot dumber and far less responsible (my corollary, not his) tend to be much more open towards having children. And when they do, they'll raise them to be conservative, of course.
