What does it take to be a good leader?

In what you've seen, what sets apart a leader from the regular plebs?
I think one of the top qualities is the ability to unite people under a belief, to make them become apart of it and become it.

Basically most of the poem 'If—' by Rudyard Kipling describes it perfectly.

Depends on the group they are leading. A good leader for a band of friends taking on the world has different requirements than a warden, trying to keep the unwilling in check.
