His eyebrows sparkling, his white beard hangs down to his chest. The thatched mats, spread outside his chise, spread softly, his splendid attos. He polishes, cross-legged, his makiri, with his eyes completely absorbed.

He is Ainu.

The god of Ainu Mosir, Ae-Oine Kamuy, descendant of Okiku-Rumi, He perishes, a living corpse. The summers day, the white sunlight, unabrushed, ends simply through his breath alone.
Ultimately this is an anecdotal thing, but I know the intimate details of all of my bffs lives
i mean, so do i—but it's different, because people tend to filter it in ways that make them look better

when my friends tell me intimate stories, it's obvious to me that 40-60% of it is fabricated or embellished, partially because they know i can be a very judgmental person, and i'm not afraid to chastise my friends for doing some some really dumb shit

and all my friends are at an age where pretty much all they do is dumb shit, as you can likely imagine

it's not that i get angry at them, but the way they are, it's clear to me that they don't like making me upset

so i can feel the eggshells they walk around when speaking to me, and it just pisses me off—it's like i'm not even talking to a real person anymore, almost like a caricature of a person i once knew

the internet is the only place where i feel like people are truly open and unafraid to express themselves, so the notion that your "real life" friends are closer to you will always be a joke to me
Like here, I tend to be very un-judgemental irl, so my friends have 0 issues with telling me their issues. If anything, people tend to tell me more than I'm comfortable with solely because they know I'll tell them things without being mean, but also without lying to them. For example, the friends and that I have and my family (extended, to relevance) all know why I don't like Trump (including those that voted for him), but all accept it as [at least] a difference in political views.

On second though, maybe I'm just the kind of politician that cons people into thinking that I represent them (aka the worst kind. the only good kind properly states their stances and wins based on their own merits).

Literally look at the purpose of a story from the most basic, caveman standpoint.
why in god's name would i do that
Because I'm arguing what the point of every story is. The meta aspects are a perversion of the inherent purpose of the story (total immersion), just like a lie is a perversion of the inherent purpose of language (communicating thoughts).

I can't do that unless I reference a time before that perversion existed.

this is the first negative post i've seen about the show, ever

thank you
Its biggest issue is that it's too overbearing on issues that are pretty obvious, and tries too hard on randumb humor. The Szechuan Sauce in the April Fools episode is the most obvious of the latter issue.

No you can't. If you can analyze the film, that means you're admitting it isn't real.

That's not total immersion.

immersion is not "this is real"—that's total immersion, which is physically impossible, and something you wouldn't want to experience anyway

immersion is "this asymptotically approaches real, but i know in the back of my mind that it's not real"

It's not an issue of being mean; I'm not nice either. I just create the atmosphere of acceptance, regardless of thought or credence. My mother herself (a hardcore Republican, climate change denial and everything) couldn't even figure out my stance on issues without me outright telling her.

It's why, optimistically, I'd hope to be a judge one day. Realistically, I'll be dead before that's possible.

Wrong. That's partial immersion. True immersion is "this is real" (which is far from impossible), you're just incorrect lol. Not much sense trying to explain the meaning of storytelling to you if you have such a flaw in your base-level thinking.

And even if it was impossible, that doesn't matter. This is about what a story strives to do.

Even if that were true, it doesn't matter. The purpose of every story is to strive to reach true immersion. If yours doesn't, it means you have no integrity in your universe, either because of apathy or corruption.

As long as you can separate the fictional aspects created by the film and the technical aspects proposed by the director and investors, it's fine. I still disagree with your belief in there being no such thing as "bad acting"; the best way I could explain this context would be to say that it tips the viewing experience away from "immersion" into "technical reading" in such a way that you don't accurately experience the world the creator meant it to be experienced (within a certain margin of error of course, given that no two people view things the samw way).

That's the immediate purpose - and only of some stories. The immediate purpose of something like The Naked Gun is to make you laugh. The immediate purpose of The Notebook is to make you cry. What all of these have in common, though, is the strife towards full immersion. You can't make someone laugh if you don't believe in what you're writing, and the only way to believe in that storywriting is by believing in the universe you're trying to create.

A friend isn't someone you necessarily tell "everything" to. A therapist, that's who you tell everything to. That's the role I seem to play to most of my friends. Not sure if that's good or not.

Parental dictation requires a degree of judgement, and that's not a bad thing; some people do need parental advice outside of their actual parents, especially if their parents haven't properly taught them what they need. But many children hide things from their parents for fear of judgement; that's why it's nice for them to know there's someone who won't like or dislike them any less for their thoughts. My #1 rule is that I won't say anything I wouldn't say to someone's face; and I have gone back and recounted things I've said about my friends, good or bad. It inspires confidence in them that I will always be honest to them, regardless of the situation, without being unduly rude to them.

what
I believe Class is referring to the discussing on women being held to a higher standard, where Class argued that women should be held to the same standard as man less it be unfair to women.
