If you disagree with the feel the developers want you to have when playing the game, you shouldn't be so adamant on hating mods.
that makes me more adamant about my hatred of mods, actually, because it shouldn't be left up to the community to fix a game's problems

lol we thought of the same thing in response to his post

it's true though, such a double standard

dev intent is only important sometimes I guess

when played offline, dark souls should have a pause feature—yes or no

Spoiler
the correct answer is yes
nah

One of the components of Dark Souls is unavoidable danger (even within the locations of fires, if you haven't shaken the trail of your hazardous followera). The inability to pause meshes with that.
or you could just not pause if you really value that aspect

sometimes life happens, and i just have to go for a couple seconds, and the game shouldn't punish me for that
what about your obsession with developer intent

they obviously want you to treat it as an experience you set time aside for
just because i value developer intent doesn't mean i can't have my disagreements

even if you set aside time for the game, again—sometimes life happens

it's a problem that the game punishes me for having other things to do with my life

it's one of those things that makes me want to play the game less so i don't even have to worry about it

great game design

It's your problem, not mine. I don't have things to do with my life. Just 'cause you have problems, doesn't mean I should see a reduction in the game's quality. If you want the pause function so the game can suit your life better, get a mod.

how does giving the player more options reduce the game's quality

especially when quitting the game is still a thing, it's just a bit more tedious

why aren't you against that feature?

wouldn't the game be 20x better if it strapped you to your chair until you beat it in one sitting?

if dark souls had a pause feature, i easily would've had it beaten by now, easily

i would've had it beaten a year ago

but no, like carson said, i have to set aside time to play this game—something i don't have to do for any other game, but dark souls is different and therefore flawless and special, and we absolutely can't change it for the better because people are pissbabies about it

It comes back to that thing I heard about where there was rumours or somethinh about a casual/ easy mode being added to DS and everyone flipped shit even though it wouldn't effect them in any way, shape or form.

It doesn't impact your experience playing, why does it matter.

yeah, dark souls fans are the absolute worst

the game is just untouchable for whatever reason—all of its flaws are actually strong points, and if you DARE suggest that they don't actually play to the game's strengths, you're just a casual who needs to get good (even if the issue in question has nothing to do with game skill)

i mean, i really love the game, but bad design is bad design—and the game has its fair share of it

Pausing the game ruins the feel of the game, so even if some people would enjoy it more like that, they should get ignored. If they really want it, they should mod it. You don't paint a different background to the original Mona Lisa, you take a copy of it and edit it if you really want to view her in that background so much.

A person shouldn't give up their own well to that extent just to enjoy the game. If you need a pause from the game, I think turning it off is better than having the whole world stop for your sake. Turning it off feels like you're disconnecting from the game world.

I mean, ask yourself this: Why aren't there any shields in Bloodborne? It's a function that many would've liked, but it definitely ruins the gameplay and point of the game. Heck, they even make fun of the one wooden shield in the game on it's description.

I don't even get why its so loved. I mean, it's nice to have a game that challenges the player for once but I just get bored around an hour or so in whenever I play. It's so tedious.

No, it doesn't, and if for whatever reason it ruins the feel of the game for you, no one is forcing you to use the feature. It's just there for your convenience, and the game would be better off for it.

But you don't HAVE to pause if you don't want to.

because it impacts the experience. Might not be mine, but other people shouldn't play games in a way where you're missing a big plus.

Shields aren't a fundamental requirement for a video game.

And yes, I consider pause features a requirement for all games. It's as essential as a power button.

But why does how someone else plays a singleplayer game bother you? It doesn't affect how you play it.

I mean, I really don't like the kind of mods that get popular for bethesda games that add shit like Darth Vader and Iron Man suits, but it's easy enough to just not install them and ignore them.

Hell, fast travelling in Beth games is a similar deal (granted, the maps shouldn't be designed with fast travel in mind) but if you think you'll miss out on crazy experiences or random encounters, just don't fast travel. It's easy enough.

And also the just mod it argument is moot when talking about consoles. Plus, I've also heard dark souls PC ports are generally trash though I wouldn't know myself.

To enjoy the Souls game, don't use a shield. That's a feature I think they should remove, but I'm not gonna make a mod about it, because I can just not use it, but I think that other people shouldn't use shields.

It doesn't bother me. They can buy the disc and use it as a mirror for all I care. All I'm saying is have you tried putting it in your console and actually played it? You'd enjoy it more that way.

I don't care about your shitty opinion or playstyle. I could say the same thing from my perspective.

To enjoy the Souls games, don't ever go online. Use spears and shields only. Never use summons.

You are not playing Dark Souls correctly if you don't play like that.

See how obnoxious that is?

The pause button is something we can argue on equal grounds about, but as for how to actually play the game, I'm higher up than you.

What possible motivation do you have to play with spears and shields only? To never use summons makes sense, because you're meant to beat the game, not have someone else do it for you. Don't go online? Even if you choose not to, the game usually has a different way to try to show you that the world of Dark Souls has weird rules by having NPCs from another time invade your world, or assist you.

Excuse me, I'm full of dog poison
Antinatalism is a shit meme and you should feel bad. Also, what's your favorite season of archer?
I haven't been as committed to the show as I should be, sorry

I've liked everything I've seen on FOX and of Dreamland

Vice sucked tho

Vice was alright, certainly not my favorite.
Contextually, Vice was the only thing I could watch when I first "tried" Archer (I only had Amazon Prime). I like it better since I got Netflix, and I only watched it regularly starting with season 7.

Missing out tbh. The first season has some of their best one liners, they work on several different levels but unfortunately are obscure. I appreciate comedy where I have to research bits to get the joke but it took away from the first view.

Season 2 was much more accessible but still layered. Season 3 is where the turn started and the show becomes progressively simpler from that point. It's also when call backs to previous jokes are being used heavily.

After season 3 is kinda a mixed bag. I think they lost a big part of their identity once the agency is dissolved which resulted in season 7, by far my least favorite.

Dreamland was fantastic, but I'm afraid it was a one off and I think they're running out of ideas.

If they were the only way to play the game, you wouldn't be able to play the game any other way, but clearly that's untrue.

And if you think that's fun, you're right, but you can maximize the amount of fun by playing with no shield
