Well, the only reason why they say you "should" is because if you don't, waiters are going to start tampering with your food the next time you decide to eat there. Whether or not it's actually true, people actually use that as a threat.

I mean, throwing a tantrum because someone couldn't be assed to give you their hard-earned money for a job you should be getting paid fairly for anyway isn't really the best way to get me on your side--in fact, it kinda makes me resent waiters for being so childishly self-entitled. Or at least, the ones who expect tips and the ones who get upset if they don't get tipped.

Then again, that may just be a myth. But just the idea of spitting in people's food over not receiving a tip? I can't think of a more petty, scumfuck thing to do. And if I found out about it, I'd sue the cunt into fucking submission. No sympathy.

Tbh servers are entitled shits. Kitchen staff makes minimum wage and servers complaining they didn't make 100 in a shift. If you have a job that not any 16 year old can do like bartending then maybe I'll tip without contempt. Waitresses disgustingly outearn their peers.

I have done in Turkey and Greece, but not a set percentage. I just add whatever I tjink at the time.
