I've come to hate the terms "shitpost" and "shitposter."

If we only discussed serious topics that add to the community, there would be no posting. We'd like to think that internet forums are some college library where we discuss issues. In reality its more like a group of friends sitting in a livingroom. Sure, sometimes its serious, sometimes metaphysical, but someone is going to fart loudly, talk in a weird voice, crack a stupid joke or claim he fucked someone's mom. The best times are when its more funny and not serious than is.

People who throw around shit poster too often need to sit down and reevaluate how serious they take an online forum.

This would hold up if this was a secluded little community where we are all friends and know each other well, perhaps beyond our internet personas.
But it's not. Not everyone here knows each other, and certainly not everyone likes each other.
Sure, in your scenario those things are perfectly acceptable. But friends generally know what's going to make their friends laugh, they know what's crossing the line and what could be considered offensive and so on. Heres the thing though -a lot of us are strangers to each other. You fart on some stranger, talk to them in a funny voice or claim that you fucked his mom and he's probably going to be pretty pissed off with you.
But even so, this is worse than that. Making a thread/shitpost isnt just talking to one person or a small group of people, it's the entire userbase. And the interactions you were referring to are typically between friends. We want threads that capture the interest of the users, on a topic that they can talk about with other people of the same interest so as to develop friendships similar to what you were describing. Not some fucktard running around the main street farting on everyone and doing yoda impressions.
