I don't know if OS's and forum architecture are the right examples of being technologically outdated. By their nature, they can't really evolve much in terms of the GUI. if things evolved in terms of the natural rate, instead of the accepted rate, no one would be able to use anything. We would spend all of our time relearning everything we use on a day to day basis. A better example would be the algorithms going on behind the scenes.
The only viable solution is to open a portal to Hell.
