Because I know thw characters, half, or close to half of those characters are from shows that aren't even set in Japan, nevermind on Earth.

well... think about how you would want people to look if you were from a culture where everyone has dark brown eyes, black hair, small figures and squinty eyes

obviously you would want the total opposite

so you get characters with big eyes, odd colored hair, large chests, and saturated eye colors
