UK Embassy 'accidentally' rubs the war of 1812 in the yanks faces :^)

you guys failed to invade Canada, and in the end got your fucking capital burned to the ground. I'd say it's quite the failure on the US' side of things.

The US actually took Ontario, but it was given back as part of the peace treaty. Cause you know, the US cared more about not having the British navy capture and forcibly conscript American ship crews and getting the UK to stop funding and arming Native peoples in exchange for them attacking the US than holding on to parts of Canada.

They actually only managed to take the area of Lower Canada, which is like, a quarter of ontario, never took upper Canada, and the capital.

This was Canada in 1812. So yes, the US did take all of what would have been Ontario at the time.

Counter to popular belief no one "won" the war of 1812. The war just carried on until their was no reason to fight anymore as the conditions that had setup the conflict had been resolved in Europe. Though the burning of the white house was probably the most brought up subject over here in the UK when anyone talks about Canada. Simply because the Canadians try to take credit for one of our Generals handiwork.

I'm not even sure why Canadians think they can claim credit for it considering they weren't even involved in the battle. The DC burning was purely a British endeavor.

But hey, at least you got to burn down a White House. I mean I know a bigger, better, and much more prettier one was made to replace it, but it is the only time that's ever been done.
