Lately I've tried acknowledging what exists, feeling-wise. Just sitting with the discomfort and not trying to avoid or exacerbate it has made me realize new things about the emotions I experience. Breathing tends to help me think about these things too, as does meditation.
Trying to process why these things affects me is also useful, but this all works for me. I don't know how you usually de-stress.
