I genuinely believe this series was supposed to star Boba Fett, but then somebody pointed out that he wasn't a Mandalorian, and instead of coming up with a different name they just said, "Fuck it, make up a new character who is literally Boba Fett but is actually from Mandalore."
hes not from mandalore tho bruh DID YOU EVEN PAY ATTENTION TO THE LORE

Actually quite relieved to hear this isn't going to be a super-serious borefest, that was the impression I got from the trailers. Still not sure if I'll be able to check it out. Even if Disney+ was available in the UK there's no way I'd pay for it.

I love you, son.
Finally watched it on Disney+, the final episode released yesterday.

Overall, it was... okay. The middle episodes really fell flat for me, and the show as a whole just felt kinda bland and grey. Every planet Disney's The Mandalorian lands on feels more or less the same as the last one he visited, and the side characters are a bit hit-or-miss. That said the last episode was really good.

I guess I'd give the whole season a 7/10? It's fine?

"flaming nipple chops"-Your host, the man they call Ghost.

To say, 'nothing is true', is to realize that the foundations of society are fragile, and that we must be the shepherds of our own civilization. To say, 'everything is permitted', is to understand that we are the architects of our actions, and that we must live with their consequences, whether glorious or tragic.
Only thing that bothered me about the show is how they didn't set up that mandalorians were so vulnerable, when all the mandalorian helmets were piled up at the end of the series it didn't seem believable. When Mando left, it looked like they were doing great in the fight and were primed to leave shortly afterwards. Just seemed odd

His eyebrows sparkling, his white beard hangs down to his chest. The thatched mats, spread outside his chise, spread softly, his splendid attos. He polishes, cross-legged, his makiri, with his eyes completely absorbed.

He is Ainu.

The god of Ainu Mosir, Ae-Oine Kamuy, descendant of Okiku-Rumi, He perishes, a living corpse. The summers day, the white sunlight, unabrushed, ends simply through his breath alone.

I disagree. When Mando escapes with the child in Episode 3, his hesitation to leave is because of the insane danger they put themselves in to help him. The scene is explicitly framed as brave/heroic of them, which wouldn't be true if this wasn't a big deal.

The issue was never that specific battle they flew out for, it's that this is an operating location of the Bounty Hunters' Guild and people are hostile towards Mandalorians. This is supported by the fact that Mando states they'll have to move the Covert because of this, and the helmets being piled up in the Covert shows that they weren't able to escape fast enough.

I liked it. Definitely echo Fedorekd's sentiment that the middle segment dragged a tad, but a really solid show.

I would have liked to see a bit more development and revelation on the child and what it is considering the whole show is centred around him/her/it, but it's basically just used as something to accelerate the plot. Guess that's being reserved for season 2.

Also my boy Werner Herzog was done dirty. Get a mid tier actor if you're gonna kill him after 10 minutes of screen time.

Fight scenes and choreography is definitely where the show excels however.

7.5/10

I hate to say it, but I’m probably gonna open my subscription back up exclusively to watch this. I really enjoyed season one, I only got around to watching it over the Summer.

Okay well, whatever misgivings I had about season 1 has been obliterated by season 2.

That was phenomenal. All 8 episodes. Can't really pick out one that I didn't like or thought stood out. Pretty funny how a spin off TV series with a lower budget has displayed more emotion and entertainment value in its pinky toe than the entirety of the sequel trilogy has.

We knew the world would not be the same.
A few people laughed, a few people cried, most people were silent.
I remembered the line from the Hindu scripture, the Bhagavad-Gita.
Vishnu is trying to persuade the Prince that he should do his duty
and to impress him takes on his multi-armed form and says,
"Now, I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds.."
I suppose we all thought that one way or another.
Plotlines are extremely two dimensional and predictable but I guess it's fine if you just want entertainment without any real complexity. Maybe it's just my cynicism, but I find the 50 year old "kid" aka the klepto toddler a completely insufferable character that they're no doubt shoving as hard as they can to sell toys.

Agreed. Also, normally there is an element of danger involved in any good story. Seeing as how overpowered Mando and his campanions are, that danger is nonexistent which stifles what the show could be.

Bill burr did a pretty stellar job at acting at one point, from what I've watched. Real short scene where they infiltrated an imperial base and where sitting down with an imperial officer yabbing about operation cinder.

Most media doesn't really do much for me these days but I can appreciate when there's A grade effort involved from somebody even if the rest of the show or movie was complete ass.

Star Wars fans' assessment of whether a legacy character has been "given the respect they deserve" is based entirely on whether there's a scene of them slashing through enemies with a lightsaber.

Does that statement extend to the likes of R2-D2 or C3PO?
