Conservative white middle class male? Check
Legally acquired AR-15? Check
Alt-right or white supremacy group ties? Check

4 dead, a few more injured at a Tennessee Waffle House. Google it and pick the news feed of your particular political leaning.

I’m beginning to think we should ban the Stoner platform just because it’s the go-to for the disenfranchised conservative white male  mass shooter.

If we noticed that 80% of drunk driving fatalities involved red dodge chargers, we’d probably look at doing the same to that.

You should genuinely consider switching your sources for this kind of information. Almost everything in the OP is heavily speculative or straight up false. I would probably think this thread was satire if I didn't know any better.

4 died
He was a white conservative (he even tried to force a meeting with Trump)
The AR-15 in question was legally acquired

What isn’t factual? What is misleading?

That the AR-15 is the go-to for mass shootings?

We know that he trespassed on restricted White House property because he wanted to see the president. Anything beyond that is speculative. The stunt got his weapons and firearm identification taken away, so not really “legally acquired”.

This whole effort from both sides to characterize every mass shooter as their political opponents is pretty selfish. It’s as bad here as it is when I see people trying to say he’s a converted Muslim and registered Democrat with no basis. It seems like he had some type of schizophrenia, considering his paranoid delusisions.

Also semi automatic handguns still are used more than ARs when it comes to different shootings (although recent, devestating attacks have used an AR).

You will find out who you are not a thousand times, before you ever discover who you are. I hope you find peace in yourself and learn to love instead of hate.
Honestly at this point whenever I hear about a shooting I just anticipate the memes and the obligatory Sam Hyde

The current titlebar/avatar setup is courtesy of Father Dougal McGuire, from Craggy Island's Father Ted.
Ngl saw the news headline as "Naked man attacks Waffle House" and burst out laughing up until I read the details.

Even if he did have "just mental issues" and his guns were taken away from him before (though the BBC states they were handed to his father, and the AR-15 was one of those originally taken from him), why is that ok?

People with mental issues shouldn't have access to firearms until they can prove they're sane enough to use them, it shouldn't be the other way around, i.e. "give them guns and the ones who fuck up get them taken away".

I’m pretty sure these issues usually don’t develop until later in life. It appears that he had never actually been diagnosed with anything.

Iirc shit like schizophrenia isn't obvious until the 19-20 range, though that figure is a bit rusty.  Aren't guns sold to people at 18+ in the States or is that just wishful thinking?

If it isn't clarified that the guy stole his gun back from his Dad somehow, then he's also fucked in this scenario.

It depends on the area but generally at least 18. And I think I read that the dad just gave them back.

Nobody seems to really care anymore but sometimes I stop and think about all the grief and destruction this causes the families. Imagine just saying "see ya" or some shit to your mom or dad or sibling, hours pass by and they're not home yet so you get nervous and send a message. Then another message. Then you start calling. Then you start calling other people to see if they're with them, but you can't find them anywhere. And eventually the news reaches you from the police or even worse the news. The shooter's family (if he survives) have to bear the pain of their child's crime and see him sentenced to who knows how long in prison. It's tragic.

Fair, but you'll be more likely in such a murder spree to kill a lot less people with an item that ISN'T. DESIGNED. TO KILL THINGS.

(And a far less related, but nontheless interesting fact; you can drink n' drive on a bicycle, and apparently in the UK it's illegal too)

It's also just a poor comparison. An abortion can be performed anywhere with a metal tool or even just a bunch of pills and herbs. Drugs can be made or grown in your basement with the right knowledge and access to often common ingredients. And prostitution literally doesn't require anything more than just your body.

Guns on the other hand are complex tools that are difficult to make. There's a reason why criminals use glocks, sigs and S&W's that are legally made and distributed. Unlike with drugs or prostitution, there's virtually no underground criminal gun factories making fake, high quality and name brand guns. While criminals do sometimes have makeshift guns, they're unreliable, inaccurate and shit to use. I feel like I've said this a hundred times already but it's the legal market in firearms that directly fuels their illegal trade and criminals getting their hands on them. There's substantial evidence that by limiting the legal access to guns and cleaning up the ones in illegal circulation drives up prices and makes them less available to and used by criminals.

Apples and oranges, pretty much.

AR-15-style weapons are used about as frequently in mass shootings as other weapons, and are only used in a small minority of other gun-related homicides. Focusing on one specific platform is useless.

Anyone can make an open-bolt sub machine gun with basic hand tools and an inexpensive trip to Home Depot.
