my dog does this weird thing where

i put food in his bowl (which is in my bathroom), takes one morsel, carries it over to my (our) bed, eats it, then scurries back to the bowl to repeat the process.

anyone know why?

Because he knows the bowl is not allowed to be moved, but wants to spend as much of it's brief living life with his best friend.

My sister's dog does this too. She'll also hide food in blankets or couch cushions

my other dog does this for no discernable reason

he doesn't do the thing the dog in the OP does with a single morsel, though

one of my chihuahuas likes to take one piece over to our living room, toss/play around with it for awhile like it's a toy, and then eats it after awhile
