Well that's interesting...

Since this is Nasu related, any clue when Mahoutsukai no Yoru is getting done do this point?
No clue, translation was done a long time ago, its in TLC if I remember correctly.
Part of me wonders if it's taking so long because Commie is gonna release a "trollsub" version first...
God I hope not, I have been waiting for its release for so long. I'd flip shit.

Since part of the story is that Rin accidentally smashed all possible timelines for Fuyuki together there's a little side story where you briefly run into an alternate dimension taiga on your way to the Einzbern castle one day. It's a bit of an oddity since that's the only time an entirely new character is born from this so far so I'm chalking it up to a "for funsies" bit.

I couldn't stop hearing the CP voice overs for it in my head when I was playing it.

Alright a bit of an update. I believe I've complete the first route of Hollow Ataraxia. Nearly all of the extra scenes in it were slice of life written by guest authors. I have to say the overwhelming amount of non-main story related bits written by bad-average writers really drug the whole thing down a bit. By the time you get to what's supposed to be the SoL breather for the main story you're so worn out by the rest of the extra SoL stuff that you just don't care and end up skipping through it.

My advice for people who haven't read it yet is to only read the extra bits for the characters you like, it's what you're supposed to do anyway since it's a fandisk first, continuation of Fate/ second. For those of you who want to see everything though my experience for the extra stuff went like this.

Spoiler
Lancer: Consistently solid stuff, I enjoyed all of his extra scenes

Rider: Hit or miss

Saber: Hit or miss

Archer: Doesn't really show up that much

Caster: Hit or miss

Assassin: Doesn't show up that much

Beserker: Doesn't have any extra scenes

Gilgamesh: Hit or miss

Issei: Forgettable for the most part

Ayako: Hit or misss

Kuzuki: meh

Rins Friends: Filler that feels like filler

Illya: Hit or miss

Sakura: HOLY FUCKING SHIT THERE WERE PEOPLE WHO ACTUALLY ENJOYED COOKING WITH SAKURA!?!? THE ENTIRETY OF HER EXTRA SHIT IS PRETTY MUCH "COOKING WITH SAKURA 2: ELECTRIC BOOGALOO"!!

Rin: Suffers the most from guest writers. She's pretty much written as a generic tsun in most of her shit.

Caren: Doesn't get any extra stuff because she's main story only. Which is good because guest writers probably would have fucked her up somehow.

The main story for this route I have no problems with. It's actually fairly enjoyable. Decisive Battle was pretty good at showing off what a post F/SN Shiro can do. For context it's a fight with Shiro and Saber vs Archer. Spoilers ahead.

Spoiler

Basically Shiro uses a command spell to make saber "fly" directly at archer a second after he fires Hrunting from his bow. In order to make sure he doesn't die from the shot while saber is "flying" at him he projects Rho Ais to defend himself.

Other than that there were a couple other spoilerific scenes that I enjoyed.

Spoiler

Like the fight between Bazett and Lancer which essentially ends in their mutual death for that cycle.

And while what prelude to the ending was a bit cheesy with the whole "everybody is fighting" trope where all of the masters and servants who were passive end up taking up arms against the shadow beasts in their own areas it did produce a moment where Gilgamesh decides he's had enough of their annoying bullshit and decides to use Ea on them.

Spoiler

The ending itself though was something I very much enjoyed.
Spoiler
There isn't a big battle at the end, it's a conversation between Bazett and Angra Mainyu. Bazett wants to keep the fake grail war in which everyone is trapped in an endless four day cycle because she's scared of having to face the real world. She wants to lose herself in this fantasy because even though she tries to keep up the appearance of having a cold and tough exterior, inside she's little more than an scared little girl who doesn't want to deal with the consequences of her actions  She would much rather endure an eternity of a meaningless repetitive cycle where everything is reset at the end of four days than to be forced to move on to that fifth day and progress through the rest of her life.

However Angra Mainyu manages to convince her to let him pass so that he may fill the gaps in his fake grail and bring the whole thing crashing down so that not just him, but the both of them can finally progress through their lives, so that the actions they take will finally have meaning.

Though in Angra Mainyu's case, he'll only be returning to the void.

This is not the greatest sig in the world, no. This is just a tribute.
So am I supposed to feel like I'm playing a Kagetsu Tohya sequel set in the Fate side of the Nasuverse?

I've never read Kagetsu Tohya, but I'd assume it's set up the same way as Fate/Hollow Ataraxia due to the fact that they're primarily fandiscs.

Huh... makes sense.

What in the world is this thread even about?
a visual novel.
you might recognize the anime adaptations of similar works by the same people as Fate/Stay Night and Fate/Zero.

I never heard of either tbh.

A visual novel is an interactive fiction game, featuring mostly static graphics, most often using anime-style art or occasionally live-action stills (and sometimes video footage).

So is the one this thread is about particularly good or what's the deal?
The good and bad parts about the visual novel in the OP.

I see. Well, thanks for filling me in.
I would say that the series is very good.
