Neck jokes aside though, the artistic direction Shaft went with Ef really puts them on the top of the list for me.

the only anime i watched as a kid was pokemon, and i enjoyed it, but only because i was a stupid kid
it's still probably the best anime i've ever seen though--i'd give it a 5/10

i would watch DBZ when it was on as a kid as well--i hated it
bleach, too, when it was on adult swim
along with inuyasha, shin-chan, and death note

though to be fair i haven't seen enough of those four to technically form a real opinion on them
but from what i saw, i have no desire to return to them

then there's naruto, and one piece
they're bad

i've seen a couple miyazaki films, and while they were enjoyable, i find it difficult to really count them
because they're SO like... accessible, like pokemon
so no, i won't count that

and i forced myself to watch ghost in the shell
it was godawful

all youve seen are the super popular shounen, and most of them are awful. i dont know why you didnt like GITS. sounds like you didnt want to, so you probably missed its themes and messages and just experienced the aesthetics.

sounds like you just have a really closed mind about this because of some bad experiences with series which arent very good in the first place (mostly, i do think dragon ball is good, and death note has its moments.) idk what to tell you. id say for you to watch more miyazaki films like spirited away and mononoke but youll probably just end up hating them too.

maybe animation just isnt for you. i cant think of an objective reason why youd dislike ALL anime so much other than the format itself. which really fucking sucks, because i know for a fact that you're missing out on some fantastic writing.
