"flaming nipple chops"-Your host, the man they call Ghost.

To say, 'nothing is true', is to realize that the foundations of society are fragile, and that we must be the shepherds of our own civilization. To say, 'everything is permitted', is to understand that we are the architects of our actions, and that we must live with their consequences, whether glorious or tragic.
Oh dear Lord, are people seriously thinking the 15 year old Darth Jar Jar joke/myth is something Lucas seriously envisioned?

It was a joke, and there was a funny fan-film about it on the Star Wars site back in the early 2000's about it, but that's it.

A flower which blooms on the battlefield
III is the best prequel movie though

1 is a lot better when you consider Lucas's original plan for the series.

3 is overrated.
What he intended and what he actually did aren't the same thing. Episode 1 is easily the worst Star Wars movie.

This is not the greatest sig in the world, no. This is just a tribute.
I don't mind the Ewoks or the fact that Han Solo lives in 6, but I mind why those decisions were made. That's my problem with Ep. 6. As someone who values creative integrity as much as I do, I'd think you'd appreciate that sentiment as well. Lucas sold out with 6 -- and that's a problem.
yeah but that has nothing to do with the art itself

it just doesn't

green day sold out with american idiot--still generally regarded as a good record
They didn't really sell out... and it's one of the single greatest pop-punk albums of all time.

I'd say 2 is. 1 is at least watchable but 2 is downright unpleasant.

Yes they are.

Lucas's vision for Episode 1 didn't change until Episode 2. Most of the initial complaints with TPM revolved around Jar-Jar -- which would've been explained had Lucas stuck with his ideals.

Oh dear Lord, are people seriously thinking the 15 year old Darth Jar Jar joke/myth is something Lucas seriously envisioned?

"Jar-Jar is the key to all of this."

Tell me how else I'm supposed to take that.

I'm 99% sure that quote is from Lucas talking with one of the producers about the comedy in Phantom Menace, and that Jar Jar was the central role for comedic relief in the film, while mentioning how C3PO was like that in A New Hope.

I don't know who told you this, but it's simply not true.

Weren't you one of those people who knew about the Jar-Jar = Sith Lord theory?

That was just a Reddit meme. Lucas never said anything of the sort.

In context, maybe?

"Jar Jar is the key to all of this because he's a funnier character then we have ever had in any of the other movies."

It's the greatest genre to ever exist.

And I don't really see how scrapping an entire project and starting over to nail the artistic direction they wanted to go in was selling out.

it's hard to defend some of the stuff that happens in II, even as ardent as a prequel defender as i am

it's still better than dogshit though
It's hard to defend anything in 1 minus the pod racing and duel at the end. The pacing of that movie was god awful.
the podracing was actually the only thing i didn't like

it was a fun scene, but it went on for way too long

other than that, the pacing was fine

Yeah but there is a difference between things being grounded in reality, and just being completely whacky.
was the battle of endor really that wacky

really
I vehemently disagree with you, and yes I think the battle of Endor as opposed to something like Hoth where it actually felt like the Empire had a brain, was wacky.

But I guess in the end -- Sort of feels like everyday its harder to stay happy where you are. There are all these ways to look through the fence into your neighbor's yard.

Why even risk it? its safer to stay distant.

What else was wrong with the pacing, specifically?

And Hoth was pretty silly. Those giant walker things with the legs? And you destroy them by wrapping a tether cord around them a bunch of times? C'mon.

I just felt there was almost nothing going on in between the few set piece moments in episode 1. It was big action/excitement, followed by like half an hour of them sitting around doing nothing almost every time. And also for that final battle, why would they go out in an open field to fight an army when they're in a fortified position in the city? It makes no sense and was obviously a distraction.

And no, I liked the AT-AT's because it showed more creative stuff in the Star Wars universe. It doesn't all have to be WW2 with blasters reskinned over it. Also it was a tow cable which was insanely thick and stuff. Silly, but I felt it was creative. I felt with space ships flying around and infantry on the ground, it was a bit more of a believable fight. And the Empire didn't actually lose that at all. Unlike in episode 6 where they lost to a bunch of midget tribals.
