people need to start actually doing shit instead of just complaining. the last 3 generations after millenial have all had a big problem with inaction. don't just whine, take your lives into your own hands. make the world the place you want to live in.

i'm not saying kill trump or some shit, but this world of feeling sorry for yourself, relentlessly playing the victim card and making excuses, no matter how accurate your descriptions of reality are, is getting you nowhere.

Unless I'm just misunderstanding your post entirely, and correct me if I am...

You mean the generations that have just crossed into adulthood/ones that are still in school? The ones who have zero impact at the moment? What the fuck are you on about? Also, it's millennial. Also I'm pretty sure there isn't THREE generations after millennials.

I told myself I wasn't going to post in here, but this one really made me have to say something.

millennials can be as old as 35 so theyve been adults )ong enough to make an impact, and yes, there are 3 generations after them (millennial>my generation>the generation after me, which are very young but are going to have the same issues we have).

but yeah. weve cultivated a society of self proclaimed victims and whiners who do nothing but feel bad for themselves. or, maybe they do something, but its not enough and they dont know how to push themselves.

and its "there arent THREE generations", since we're pointing out typos

Yeah I'm not sure there are two gens after millennials. Either way tho he's right. Personal responsibility counts for shit now, I'm just not sure if it's the fault of the millennials or if we just embraced it.

And yes, I'm blaming us blaming everything else on others.

so seven would be the oldest, which is more than enough time to indicate some things, at least.

You're really surprised the generations that grew up in the age of cell phones, computers, and instant gratification are going to be annoyed over things or not embrace it the same way previous generations have? Or a generation that is bogged down incredibly hard by college debt that they owe in the multiple tens of thousands by the time they graduate and haven't even gotten started in a real career yet, along with a housing market that is incredibly shit now? Not to mention finding work/growing up in the Great Recession. Blaming it all on these generations as it is their own fault is insanely short sighted.

Of course things are going to be different due to just those few instances. And we have plenty to bitch about. Every generation does. Baby boomers did it when the hippie era crossed as well. It happens with every generation in different ways.

seems a bit late

citing wikipedia:
"As with past generations, there are no agreed upon dates for when the Gen Z cohort starts or ends by demographers and researchers; therefore starting birth years range from the mid-1990s to early 2000s, and as of yet there is little consensus about ending birth years."

ender would be gen z

The housing market is fucked to be sure. But there are loads of ways around student debt and jobs. I think kids just go to college right after highschool because they're scared of getting into the workforce, and schooling is much more comfortable.

You could work for 3-4 years and save up enough for tuition, or at least, a much more managable student debt once you graduate. And on top of that, you will actually have job experience and maturity to go along with it, which is what I think employers are really looking for. And there are plenty of jobs out there, you just have to be willing to go outside your comfort zone. We can't all work at American Eagle.

Life fucking sucks, it has always sucked, and it's going to continue to suck. Stop having kids; break the cycle.

Are you really not refuting it? If you don't think people growing up on technology like this makes our mindset and way of thinking not at all different, then idk what to tell you.

Well yeah, something they're familiar with sounds far more appealing than working from 9 to 5 for shit wages and living in a place probably less luxurious than home. Highschool also doesn't prepare you for the real world at all.

IF you're still allowed to live at home. If not no, odds are you're stuck with a shitty lifestyle, making ends meet, and not making enough to really live to pay for education.

BOOTSTRAPS son. Better work your ass off for little gain in the hopes of it paying off in 20 to 30 years, because that's what being an American is about.

This retarded masochistic mindset where people think you need to work all day every day to death, to be moderately successful, is so stupid. But that is an entirely different conversation.

Edit: It should be noted I get where you're coming from, and I agree with you to an extent. I'm not advocating people not working, you obviously need to do work to get somewhere in life. I just think there are obstacles/reasons is all and am merely offering a different perspective.

Yeah, it changes your mindset and way of thinking. It also makes those things worse, and these people do it to themselves. No one is forcing you to use any technology.

Too bad. That's life. Everyone has to start by doing hard or boring and usually unfulfilling shit. I don't wake up everyday excited to fix 25 vacuums, believe me.

Where are these expectations coming from? Why is your level of preparedness the responsibility of anyone else?

I think most people live at home when they're off from school, so I'm sure parents would have no problem letting them work for a few years before going to school. Kids are just irresponsible with thier money and spend it on weed and video games.

Even if you don't live at home, you absolutely can save. Just slowly. You have to be dilligent and disciplined.

Listen, again.

Life doesn't owe you, or anyone else, anything. That's a fact. I don't know what you're expecting; a 50k+ salary with full benefits gig after being spoon-fed bullshit for 20 years in school when you have NO experience with doing anything productive or beneficial to society? Stuttering at the grocery store, incapable of making eye contact with the clerk when they ask "cash or credit?" Get the fuck out of here.

Jesus, I feel like a broken record. THAT'S LIFE. Use this frustration as fuel. It sucks, and it shouldn't be that way, but it is. That's all that matters, and crying about something you can't change is why everyone calls our generations pussies and whiners.

It's the same way Jim Crow laws worked. It's not that every single white was hating on the blacks and saw them as subhuman. A lot of people just had the mindset of "that's just the way it is" when seeing things like that. The fact it's sunken in as cultural norm is the part I vehemently disagree with.

You're going to some of the shittiest echo chambers on the internet. Of course you'll get annoyed. The internet with people crying =/= an entire generation either. The issue with the internet is it gives every idiot a voice, and if you have tunnel vision and look down just that lane, of course it'll seem like it encompasses a far greater scale than it really actually does.

I don't know about where you live, but 99% of the people I know don't have that luxury. We've all been given of "go to college and be allowed to live at home for a few more years, or don't go to college and move out immediately after high school". Every job in the greater area is either minimum wage or refuses to work around a school schedule.

I think that blaming the people burdened with stupidly high student debt that no previous generation had to deal with is fair at all. Every previous generation could afford to both move out immediately after high school (if they even graduated) and attend college (or enter a career that paid well without the need for a degree). Are there a fuckload of whiners in the millennial generation? Yeah. Was the millennial generation coddled by Gen X to the point of entitlement? Yeah. Is it the millennial generation's fault that the housing market is fucked, tuition is rising at an astronomical rate, and that any job that has actually scaled with inflation and can be reasonably performed until your 60s is locked behind a bachelor's degree? Hell to-the-fuck no.

I get what you're saying, and we should be striving to improve everyone's lives, but it is going to take an extroardinary amount of work to get there. We can't just sit back and say "This is how it should be, make it so." WE have to be the ones to make these changes, which is a very tall order in and of itself.

Personally, I know the shittier millennials find their lives, the more likely they are to adopt my anti-natalistic point of view, so I don't really care if things get better or not. Life is supposed to suck, anyway.

I'm speaking more from an idealistic standpoint, you're speaking more from a realistic one. I get that and like I said in my edit, partly agree with you. I also disagree with life having to suck. Honestly that view is most likely what makes millennials not want to work. "Life is going to be shit, I'm going to be working at a job I absolutely hate and not even make that much. Why should I even bother?" Hell I'm guilty of always thinking that. It's mostly the reason I'm going to college to hopefully get a career in something I don't hate (political science), along with voice acting as my "dream" job.

Nobody is complaining about the idea of work. We're complaining that we have to both work harder than previous generations just to make a living while also getting the living shit mocked out of us for finding that fucked up. We are the ones that have to fix it, yeah, but it's a problem created by baby boomers. I wouldn't call it unreasonable to be a bit upset at the fact that we're expected to dig ourselves out of a hole that we were practically thrown into.

I also disagree that life is supposed to suck. Life could be paradise, but humanity has historically done a shitty job of making it so. Don't confuse the results from 200 millennia of incompetence to just be a fact of the universe. We can do better, and we should do better.

Every job. Really. Every job? I don't know what you're on, but I'm a highschool drop out and I've had 6 job offers in the last 2 months. They all weren't quite as nice as what I have now, but if you're young and motivated, and you show people that, the world is full of opportunity. Sometimes I think people need to give their head a shake and realise that no jobs are beneath them. (The one exception here is food industry because that conflicts with my ideals, but most don't have that problem.)

And I don't know, virtually every parent I talk to is always saying things like "I wish my son/daughter had gone into the work force for a couple years before going to school. They're not ready after grade 12." So. . .

I mean, it shouldn't take much of a conversation to explain to your parents the situation you're in, and if you say "Y'know, either way I'll be here 'til my late 20's at best, and if I work for a few more years, I can pay for my education all by myself and you're not fucking me over." Hell, you could even sweeten the pot by helping with bill payments, and still pull in enough money to save for college.

AND even if that doesn't work out, you can still manage to save while living on your own. It will suck, you'll probably work 2 jobs full-time or semi-full-time to speed it up, but that's just the hand that you've been dealt if that's the situation.

Nobody is complaining about the idea of work. We're complaining that we have to both work harder than previous generations just to make a living while also getting the living shit mocked out of us for finding that fucked up. We are the ones that have to fix it, yeah, but it's a problem created by baby boomers. I wouldn't call it unreasonable to be a bit upset at the fact that we're expected to dig ourselves out of a hole that we were practically thrown into.

every generation had shit they needed to overcome.

newsflash, life is a hole you're thrown into and expected to dig yourself out of.

I also disagree that life is supposed to suck. Life could be paradise, but humanity has historically done a shitty job of making it so. Don't confuse the results from 200 millennia of incompetence to just be a fact of the universe. We can do better, and we should do better.

life is supposed to suck because humans are incapable of eternal euphoria. that's why, even though your average 14 year old boy living in a nice suburb in america still finds shit to complain about. no matter how good our lives become, we will always be dissatisfied. it's part of the human condition.

Suffering is subjective, and no one's struggle is greater or less than anyone else's.

This "I'm triggered people struggle less than me but still say they struggle!" bullshit is ridiculous prehistoric

i know they're technically in the right for complaining or whatever, i just still find it annoying as fuck.
then your priorities over what you get annoyed by are retarded

you seriously get more annoyed by people rebelling (mentally) against this world of shit than the people who accept it and bitch out anyone who doesn't?

i mostly share their dissatisfaction with life, but i don't bitch about it in the fashion that they do.
