Something's fucky. I don't believe it is the real reason the show was cancelled.

Racism isn’t tolerated by corporate America anymore. Starbucks closed today to teach its employees how not to have a racial bias. While I don’t condone racism of any type, this is starting to smell like a thought-police scenario. While done with the best intentions, we are allowing those with power to deem what is and isn’t acceptable thoughts. While eradicating racism is a noble cause, we are removing the act of choice. It’s a slippery slope fallacy, I know this, but what happens when the corporate leaders decide other things?
maybe television shouldnt be run like a business, maybe try to make the highest quality content you can and sponsors shouldnt mattersounds like a pipe dream, but we should try to achieve it so BS like this doesnt happen

I just want to know why such high profile people with so much to lose choose to publicly say such edgy controversial shit and then backtrack once they face the consequences. If you have fucked up beliefs, then at least stand for your fucked up beliefs so you can at least say you're an honest person, and people can at least know what you really think. If you're so concerned with the consequences of those beliefs then why make a public display out of them and then backtrack when faced with backlash? It's just a pitiful sight.
Telling it like it is should be the only criteria you need to meet to become the president of the United States of America

You literally carry its name and embody it in full. You go on and say dumb racist things online. This reflects very poorly on your employer who would be seen as not caring about their high profile representatives being racist in public. They definitely were not in the wrong to fire her.

The system shouldnt have to be "we need to keep our sponsors sponsoring us or else we as a business fail!" it shouldnt be where the business needs to have good PR to keep staying relevant, and even if you're the star of the show, whatever you say in your off time is up to YOU. Roseanne wasn't a representative in any way, she was an ACTRESS. Thinking she has to represent the company, or that the status quo of this is a positive thing, is why we keep getting bullshit decisions like this. Of course, in this climate, the company made the right move. But the climate isn't a good one, and should be changed.I'm curious about the alternative then. This seems like a pretty logical thing that you can't get around. Companies are made up of and represented by people. These people can do good things and bad things. If high profile people at a certain company do shitty things in public, their bad behavior is negatively associated with the company. If the company doesn't do anything it will be seen as condoning it or being okay with that kind of behavior. How do you get around this? I don't see how you can change this system. Act like a hateful moron in public and there will be consequences for your actions. It's perfectly reasonable for this to extend to your work.
