After reviewing the source, I find it safe to say that they are somewhat of a cult of pseudointellectualism. The Forbes contributor works for The Heartland Institute, and is involved in Republican organizations for the limitation of taxation and decrease of entitlements.
In fact, none of the scientists who believe the earth is warming that The Heartland Institute invited even attended the conference.
Likely as not to lend an air of legitimacy to the conference, which unfortunately only further serves to secluded this group.
Ultimately, I feel that climate change is really not a very important issue anyway. Man has had a very profound effect on the world, its ecology, and its climate since long before industrialization. Just as the ancient peoples of South America cultivated widespread change to the Amazon rainforest, and in large part helped to create it as we know it now, and as the ancient people of Mexico caused drought through extreme deforestation, modern man will have an impact on the world that our descendants will one day be able to study. It's pure vanity though, to think that the Earth itself won't move on, and that any impact we have will be anything even resembling "permanent".
If you're still worried about trying to control the weather, you may have a God complex.
