It's cute that Madmaxepic said their site will outlive all other Bnet offsites when their rules are that strict. I don't see a site containing and getting many new members when they warn people for making a insult in an insult thread.

Forums like this, where people can flame each other for hours without punishment, are rare. The vast majority of most Internet communities will have punishments laid out for flaming, shitposting, etc.

Why? Because most people aren't degenerates like us, who are okay with the things we post on a day to day basis. It's not "strict"--it's normal human behavior, and the fact that you don't see that is kind of disturbing, and goes to show the level of desensitization that forums like this bring about.

We're the outlier--not them. They're just trying to run a forum.

The reason why so-and-so got warned for posting an insult in the insult thread is because so-and-so crossed a perceived line.

There's banter--there's fun and games--and then there's just being a genuine dick. Now, Irish may not have been serious with his post, but how exactly is their mod team supposed to know that? Look at it from their perspective: A new member stumbles in at near-random, and some of his first posts are just him talking shit about their website. How else is a mod meant to react to that?

He didn't even get banned for it--he was just warned.

I know shitting on Sapphire is the "cool" thing to do right now, but let's be reasonable.

I wouldn't have been so hard on the words if it was anything else. Hell, someone said "site needs work lol" and got warned.

Don't take away the context from this, it's a bullshit excuse. It was so bullshitty that I called out on it and had it rescinded.

Allowing the insult thread at all to continue is a greenlight to go insult there, or it's a lapse in moderation and seeing as mods were posting in there, green light a-go-go.

At least here the rules are fairly set in stone, so everything is set out and very easy to follow. There the rules are greyed or simply followed or ignored depending on who it is. Can't be a bigot there, but by golly you can create your own thread and question the sanity of religious people, yet I can't do a single insult on an insult thread because it referenced the website in a sea of posts saying various manner of insults. That sorta bullshit.

The matter was already settled there, but I'm surprised to see you attempting to defend them. Sure there is a "perceived line", but if they aren't setting it out in the rules or the rules are broad statements with them not being followed impartially and with impunity, it needs work.

Not a great comparison. None of the insults posted in that thread were particularly vitriolic, and most were obviously meant to be jocular little gibes among friends--people who are actually familiar with each other, and know not to take anything too seriously. The thread may as well be retitled "banter thread," because that's clearly what it is, and what it was intended to be used for.

What you posted wasn't banter. It was more than just a simple "you have a baby penis," or a "your mother sucks cocks in hell"--it was an attack on the website, which, as I've stated twice now, could not possibly have been gauged as serious or unserious, given that it was your first post on the fucking forum. You could've been a troll, or someone just trying to start shit for no reason. That's clearly how they saw it, and they responded accordingly.

Not to mention, Sapphire's perception of Sep7agon is very low as it is. To them, we're a group of toxic bigots, trolls, and shitposters who circlejerk about hating feminism and anything remotely "progressive" in any way. Can you honestly tell me that you don't see why they would've been so quick to punish you?

I'm not really "defending" them as much as I'm trying to get you to see it from their point of view. I'm completely neutral on this. From your PoV, you dindunuffin and there's no possibility at all that you could've done anything wrong, because the thread was designed for insults.

Meanwhile, from a more rational point of view, it's understandable how your post might have crossed a line, given their standards, and if you examine the circumstances.

Again, I know this Sapphire hate circlejerk is fun and all, but I utterly refuse to bandwagon.
