Correct way of pronouncing Aluminum.

Some book pronounced it as the latter and the Americans acquired that.

Also, there is no true way to pronounce "gif". It's respectful towards the creator to pronounce it with a soft "g", though.

The American way is easier but I like the way Aluminium sounds more.

There are other metals that end in um instead of ium though, so the consistency argument doesn't really work for me unless you want to change platinum, lanthanum, and tantalum as well.
