I just wish that it wasn't such a pop culture meme, because there's a lot of ignorance in using the word autism as an insult and to describe behaviors by non-psychologist, regular every day people. I honestly wish that only medical professionals and people actually diagnosed with autism knew what it was, because there obviously doesn't need to be an "awareness" of what it is, because a lot of people apparently are aware of the word, but actually have no idea what autism actually is. This opens up the gate for lots of stereotypes and misconceptions of people who have autism, which unfortunately seems to be hurting a lot of people. I know that I cringe when I hear people using the word autism as an insult and when it's being used as an adjective, because it's just so stupid.I may fuck around a lot on these forums, but I'm being serious about this.
