Oh, hey.
I'm digging through my computer and I can across the three books I wrote a few years ago. And Ive been sitting here thinking, maybe I should write them over. They are pretty good as is, but I feel like I could make them a lot darker and realistic now.

Those of you who may remember, I pulled members of the community and used them in the 2nd book. I used real members, their personalities and real names, all completely fleshed out. I had a huge thread back in b.old.

The premise of the books was simple. A civil war had broken out in the US and a tyrannical regime had taken over, in the first few years the nation propelled itself forward and progressed at an alarming rate. But as time went on, the government began to be very oppressive, eventually shutting down it's borders and secluding itself from the global world. A rebel army fought to bring back the United States as we knew it, but ultimately failed, miserably. Survivors of the war scattered and imbedded themselves, dropping and giving up on their cause. The war was wiped from history, it was never taught, never spoken of, completely forgotten.

The first one deals with a father, many years after the civil war, recounting and telling his son what happened. Every night they would sit down in the basement and talk in secret, knowing that if the father was discovered to be a Patriot, he would be executed. It also deals with the sons coming of age, and trusting in his father. Being that the son was raised with the new regime and supported their actions, he questions his father and ultimately decides what he is going to do with the information he is given.

The second and third follow the sons journey after that point. The second installment is a heavy handed dark tale. In almost every way it is written to be as desperate and discouraging as possible. It has it's moments. It is intended to make you laugh, make you angry, and make you cry. To bring for the harsh realities and decisions that can be life and death. And the weight of having to take care of those you love. If your a parent, you will cry. If you have a family, you will cry. If you have ever been depressed you will cry. If you have a brother or sister, you will cry. Have best friends? Same result.

It is made to be as gratifying and realistic as possible. There is no plot armor, characters come and go. No one is safe. Some justified, some not. It's meant to make you feel overwhelmed.

The third installment is focused on the resurgence of hope, whether or not it is false or true is explained. Half of it was written by an English friend of mine for narrative reasons. It is the wrap up, and answers all questions, and ties everything up.

I had always considered a prequel, sort of explaining how things were months before the initial war from another perspective, but the idea never gained steam. I'm not re-evaluating it, and am open to using the same method I did with the second book and drafting you guys.

So, what do you think?

(If my grammar and spelling is shit, blame mobile.)

I actually remember that it was pretty awesome, if you think you can pull it off I say go for it. I can't think of a situation where writing would be a bad thing to do.

I'm not necessarily rewriting, just basically adding and refining, so it won't be too bad.

Wow. How did I never know about this? Sounds really interesting.

If you were on b.net a few years back there was a huge thread I made on it.

Anyway, thanks mate :)
