Jason Wingreen, the original voice of Boba Fett, died today.

Wingreen's contribution has been all but erased the thanks to Lucas's revisionist Special Edition bullshit. Wingreen and his work, as small as it may have been, do not deserve to be dismissed and discarded, especially considering the popularity of the character and the superior nature of Wingreen's voice over in comparison to the Morrison re-recording.

Edit: he dies on Christmas day, but news just got out.

His voice is just so cold and menacing compared to the overdub..."He's no good to me dead." A clone doesn't need to have the exact same voice as its surrogate, George. We're talking about a franchise with the mystical Force in it, after all.

Nope. Jeremy Bulloch, the guy in the armor, was credited for ESB and RoTJ.

Fact is there was no reason to re-dub him; the change was entirely unnecessary.

Unfortunately I doubt it'll happen.

Disney/Lucasfilm hasn't even said anything about his passing, which irritates me greatly.

Even if Wingreen was a New Zealander too but was replaced by a guy that sounded exactly the same, I would be opposed to that too. He deserves credit for what he did.

We get it, you think Boba Fett is overrated and don't care that Wingreen was replaced. I respect and understand your opinion.

It doesn't have to be drastic to change the nuance of the line. The change is noticeable enough.

Also the whole idea of discussing such a thing is what keeps this forum alive. Little things that normally would be meaningless get attention and thought put into them.

So given that thinking it's perfectly logical for someone to be frustrated at a change that as was said "isn't as drastically different as you're making it out to be." Why change it and take away a man's credit, is what Napalm is getting at.
