Why is everyone here so obsessed with childhood nostalgia?

Cause childhood is infinitely better than being an adult
LOL

are you kidding

Little to no responsabilities. And the shitty system and world we've engineered hasn't shit on you entirely just yet.

He's got a point.

Your body chemistry is different, your mental state is different. Days seem longer, everything is new to you, everything is fun.

Why wouldn't people miss that?
What I think Carsonogen means is that he doesn't wanna live ignorantly. If there is more to life than video games and people not swearing, then he'd wanna see it, and now that he has, he doesn't feel like going back would be the right thing to do.

At least that's what I'd answer.

I suppose. Although, sometimes I wonder if living in ignorance is the way to go. You live your life in your own little self contained bubble. It can be quite nice, depending.

Class can't really argua that he can go back, though. Once you've aged or matured, once that ignorance and that closed sense of the world is gone, there is no going back to it, voluntarily or no.

He has stated in the past that he'd rather be blissfully ignorant than know the truths of reality.

Yes, childhood is far more enjoyable than adulthood, if you live in the first world.

Remember when you went exploring in places you shouldn't?

When you broke a rule like "no swearing?"

When you did something you weren't supposed to?

Sure there was.

Sure, but those "risks" were minuscule compared to the ones taken in teenage years and adulthood.

Childhood is just...boring.

And yet it led here, regardless. You could've been a shit kid and you could've been a good kid.

Same outcome anyway.

Not much to be proud of.

i mean, how do you prove something like that anyway

if i was a completely different person, i'd be a completely different person
it's because i chose to be who i was back then that i'm the person i am now

But I guess in the end -- Sort of feels like everyday its harder to stay happy where you are. There are all these ways to look through the fence into your neighbor's yard.

Why even risk it? its safer to stay distant.

I phrased it wrong. I'm saying your childhood isn't much to be proud of because it can literally be equated to a coin toss.

There's kids out there who were, or are like you, who can turn out to be the absolute opposite of what they were as kids. There's kids who can do everything right, and then get shit on by life completely.

Likewise, there can be completely foul kids who grow up to be something different. Completely shitty kids who end up being better off than other people.

So, what I'm saying is, it's not really something to be proud of. There's no inherent special quality to the manner you were raised or the choices you made that allowed you to get to this point. You just got lucky.

Right. Found it. The other point I was trying to say was, if your childhood was something to be so proud of, then why are you where you're at today? You've admitted to being depressed before. To not enjoying stuff and to basically being frustrated that you're being stepped on.

Then again Verb, I realize that my own experiences are clouding my judgement here. I am where I am today because of my shit childhood, which I don't find something to be proud of. You might say that all things considered, I turned out so far above and beyond what an upbringling like mine could have led to. But, I find that nothing to be proud of.

If you want to stick your childhood on a float parade and flaunt that childhood pride off, be my guest.

My depression isn't a personal depression, though. It's a result of dissatisfaction with life and humanity in general--not just me or how I turned out. I think I turned out great, and I see no reason not to be proud of myself.

The flaws that I have are flaws that I've accepted, embraced, or am currently working to surpass.
