Netflix's adaptation of the Lemony Snicket books is remarkable. They introduce the mystery plot from the start (it didn't originally come up until Book 5) with the introduction of a new character, and then another one later on. This works well for beginners to the series, but is actually froward in its execution.

In this instance, "froward" is not a mistyped word, but a word meaning "contrary or adverse to the matter at hand".
