Why do they seem so forced and horrendously uninteresting?

I don't get why people want to sit and watch somebody cum/cry over a trailer or something.

Because that makes views. Views = money. Besides it`s easier to put somebody`s vid on background and put you facecam on it rather than making original content. Plus imagine that you are reacting to something popular/trending, it`ll be such a clickbait.
