My friend bought me the GoT book for my birthday.

So I'm reading it out of politeness, at least it's helping to pass the time while my face re-forms itself

But from what I understand... am I really the only one who doesn't care for this series?

I'm being very kind about it though, because he didn't have to get me a gift. When he asks me what I think of it I'm going to subtly shift the conversation to discussing mere plot points, like: "Oh, wasn't that part shocking?" and, "I didn't realise that so-and-so with the such-and-such."

I don't enjoy his writing style (although I'm not unreasonable, he has a good flow, which is why it's easy to just skim through), or his... anything, really. I don't really feel like launching into an exhaustive explanation. There's nothing I'd want to emulate. I enjoy writers whose work and imagination I admire.
