Past or Future You?

Say the magical time fairy visited you and gave you the choice of talking with a past or future self. Who would you talk to, and what would you talk about?

Future me and I would have a conversation about how to get shit done (education-wise, finances, mood).

I considered this option, but there are fuck ups of mine crucial to establishing my current mindset, and that may prove to be the thing that allows me to succeed in my endeavors.
But maybe talking to past you would change who you were now, and you could make yourself that much closer to your dreams, right?

Future self, since his particular existence in his and (now) my current form is contingent on the fact that he has a time machine, and when I visit him I tell him to go back in time and surgically implant his brain into my past self. Thus giving me access to the technology to travel forward in time to visit him. Thus beginning the new cycle of my total eminence.

The past is long dead and as shitty of a time as it was for me. It was all necessary. So I look to the future, and ask a few simple important questions.

But I have another question. What if you go to summon future you, and nobody shows up because future you is dead? Then what?

Knowing my future could do more damage and change my course completely. Speaking to my past self would avoid or repair issues I would have encountered later in life.

I would like to talk to my past self to warn him of stuff, but that would change who I am. I couldn't live without this supreme level of dankness. Obviously this leaves the choice of future, I'd ask that suave motherfucker what path I should take to become even more dank.
